The modern home should provide a safe, strong, comfortable, functional, energy efficient place for its occupants.
The ability to complete a thorough inspection of a structure begins with an understanding of how the structure is built. Knowledge of modern construction practices, safety requirements, materials, and local conditions allows the inspector to evaluate the condition of the home as a system of systems.
IT STARTS WITH education
Kevin Middleton is a Certified Professional Inspector, certified by the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), the nationally recognized authority for professional Home Inspection education, training and certifications.
I have been in the construction field my entire adult life. Before Active Duty in the Army National Guard, I worked as a roofer, and as a general laborer for a General Contractor. During this time, I served in a part-time status with the National Guard as a mechanic in an Engineer Company.
I received his undergraduate degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2002, and commissioned as an Engineer Officer. Go Lions!
I have been involved with of all phases and all aspects of multiple major construction projects. From design-and-build construction drawing reviews and regulatory reviews, to the intermediate inspections throughout the construction process. Serving as the “Owner’s Representative”, it was my responsiblity to validate the work of multiple trades and reject substandard work or materials.
I’ve even constructed buildings in a combat zone! Serving as the Company Construction Officer for a 125 Soldier Company, I oversaw multiple construction projects, all while a war was going on around us!
After a long and successful military career as an Army Engineer, I decided I wanted to continue to provide a service to others. Providing Home Inspections to my clients is how I transferred my skills to the Home Inspection industry. I completed pre-licensing courseware with AHIT (American Home Inspector Training) very quickly, and am licensed in Louisiana and Mississippi.
Kevin holds multiple certifications from InterNACHI, which you can check out below, and continues to pursue further certifications in his quest for excellence as a lifelong learner.
If there’s a course I can take to become a more educated inspector, I’m all over it. The industry changes rather quickly with new technologies, methods, and building codes being updated regularly. I am either inspecting, or learning something about what I inspect.
